Michelin Map

- A vivid representation of the cluster of Commonwealth cemeteries in the Pozieres region of the Somme -

There are 956 war cemeteries and burial grounds in Belgium and northern France containing graves of Commonwealth service men and women who died during the First and Second World Wars.  This figure also includes the memorials which commemorate by name those who have no known grave.

Many of our travelling guests plan their tour around the desire to visit the grave or commemoration site of a loved one or family member whose resting place may never previously have been visited.  This is not always as easy at it sounds (look at the map above for instance!)   It is not difficult to make a mistake in identifying the grave or even the service person.  Unexpected problems can also arise in accessing some sites perhaps because of roadworks, vehicle limitations or other constraints.  This is where the knowledge, experience and resourcefulness of Colin Gillard is invaluable.  Prior consultation and planning are most important of course and Colin will go to inordinate lengths to ensure, wherever possible, that his guests are not disappointed in their attempts to achieve their goals.
