DAILY BATTLEFIELD TOURS of the SOMME

At Somme-Normandy-Tours, we realise that our many different visitors can have vastly differing needs.

Some people may have only a short time to spend here, others may be staying in the area longer.  This is no problem as we can offer a tour of the Great War Battlefields to suit you! 

For the traveller with limited time available to visit the battlefields our Somme Daily Tours are ideal.

These tours are  conducted daily in the period from March 1st until November 30th each year, from 10am until 5.30pm. 

NB:  While these tours are available on a daily basis, it is always advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. 

Tours out of season can be arranged but must be reserved prior to arrival.

(Please note that private or extended tours can be arranged for you if they would better suit your requirements.)

DAILY TOUR ITINERARY

Your tour visits the local region of the Somme, covering many areas fought over on the 1st July 1916, the most tragic day in British military history, where a whole generation of young men were lost in just a few square kilometres of Picardy land.

Here we can see PRESERVED TRENCHES, MEMORIALS, CEMETERIES, CRATERS.

This is an experience you will never forget!

Below are listed the areas included in the Somme day tours.

(The order of visits may vary at the discretion of your professional guide.)

• Newfoundland Park - preserved trenches

• Lochnagar Crater

• Thiepval

• Pozieres, including "The Tommy Bar"

• Devil's Wood

• Ulster Tower

• Mametz Wood

The tour is fully escorted, commentary given throughout by your experienced battlefield guide.

A visitors' touring pack is provided including maps, (when available), discount tickets to museums such as the underground trench museum in Albert and the Historial de la Grande Guerre in Peronne.

DAILY TOUR MEETING TIMES IN ALBERT

9.45am    Albert Train Station

10.00am  "Somme 1916" Museum in Albert

               (Look for your guide at the reception area of the underground trench museum.)

Plenty of parking available in Albert.

Your guide is at hand for any further information or assistance with your tour arrangements.

Please remember that private or extended tours of the Western Front Battlefields can be arranged with your guide.  Areas visited can include the regions of the Somme and Flanders or the Second World War battlefields of Normandy or other areas of interest.
